Doug Buzbee, President
Doug founded DBRE Consulting in 2010 to serve institutional clients that were faced with management and disposition of distressed real estate assets and since then has managed over 50 assets valued at over $50 million. Since the recovery of California’s economy, DBRE Consulting has evolved into a professional management firm of large stabilized real estate assets including apartment buildings, mobile home parks, and retail strip centers.
Doug began his career in 1990 as a U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps (CEC) officer stationed in Subic Bay, Philippines. Doug served as a CEC officer until 2000 during which time he oversaw millions of dollars of construction contracts in Asia and Europe, managed a 1,600 unit on-base housing complex in Ventura County, California, and oversaw a facilities management program for Navy-owned facilities with a plant value of over $1 billion in Rota, Spain. After serving in the Navy, Doug worked for several real estate development companies in northern California including KB Home, Reynolds and Brown, and Silverwing Development. Doug’s development experience has focused on financial underwriting, due diligence investigations, acquisitions and dispositions, project design, development, and capital sourcing.
Doug has an MBA and a Master’s of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, is a registered professional engineer, and is a licensed real estate broker in the state of California.
Joe Smithonic, Vice President of Operations
Joe joined DBRE Consulting in 2013 and now serves as Vice President of Operations overseeing projects located throughout Northern California. Joe is responsible for property inspections, property reports, rent collection, vendor and project management, tenant accounts, and tenant communications.
Prior to DBRE Consulting, Joe worked in the residential construction industry remodeling homes in the Sacramento area. Joe holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from U.C. Davis (with Highest Honors) and is a member of the Chi Epsilon National Civil Engineering Honor Society. Joe is a licensed real estate sales agent in the state of California and is in the process of obtaining a broker’s license.
Josie Averilla, Office Manager
Josie has over ten years’ experience in property management operations with various companies in the Bay Area. At DBRE Consulting Josie coordinates with on-site managers to maintain all tenant files, prepare leases, oversee property compliance and licensing issues, and administer vendor contracts. Josie attended college at San Francisco State University and holds an Associate’s Degree in Administration and Computer Applications from Heald Business College.
Accounting and Bookkeeping
Iveta Tomaska, Accounts Manager
Iveta has over 10 years’ experience in bookkeeping and payroll administration for various types of businesses. Iveta manages the financial books of all DBRE Consulting properties and projects, including all tenant, client, and vendor accounts. Iveta prepares property financial reports for DBRE Consulting properties on a monthly basis. Iveta manages payroll for DBRE Consulting employees and employees of DBRE Consulting properties including state and federal payroll tax payments and reporting.
